Introducing the Concept of Church Leadership Training

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

A big consideration for many students is how to spend their “gap year” between college and uni, or even the period after graduating. While traveling is the popular choice, there are further alternatives to consider, such as volunteer work, or to plunge yourself into church leadership training for amost a full year with DNA (dna-uk.org). This article looks in more detail this latter option.

DNA are providing an 11 month long experience of complete submergence into Christian Discipleship, ranging from October to August. This is seen as a practical experience, involving the participant to live within a Christian environment – either in your own church if you presently attend one, or a specified church if you’re not currently a fellow member of a church. Your regular day will involve assisting with the day to day activities of the church, and to be coached by its fellow members in bible studies. The course promises faith in action, so those who join can expect a rather practical experience of Christian faith, and not just the study of it.

More selling points of the studies include:-

  • being challenging, refreshing and life altering
  • helping 18 year olds and older, as there’s no age limit (they’ve trained people in their 60s!)
  • it’s pragamatic; what you’ll study is what you’ll actually do
  • equipping you for church-based leading
  • providing an accredited programme through the National Open College Network

There are 3 types of course open : Track 1 is the most popular access point to DNA – it is the fullest DNA expereince. The over-whelming majority of individuals decide that this is the best-fit pick for them. Track 2 is more appropriate to you if taking a complete gap year is not pragmatically possible. This could be for issues like job or family commitments. Track 2 consequently provides some flexibility. Track 3 offers people the chance of joining us for as many specific training sessions or days as they want.

The Goodness of Pope John Paul II

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

As a Catholic in my early forties I have only know one Pope the one that I grew up with and the one I got to love and know just like if he was my grandpa. I remember the first time I ever laid eyes on him and I had the most wonderful, fuzzy feelings like falling in love with some one for a unknown reason. Many things have been accredited to this wonderful, intelligent man. Like the end of the cold war, miracles throughout the world and making the Catholic religion once again attractive to young people. There had been no other pope in the history of the Catholic religion with the exception of Jesus that brought some many crowds of young people screaming for him and chanting his name in numerous countries of the world. He was the pope that went a step further and got together with different religions of this world to bring peace to this troubled world. Only a few years of his passing have past and there is really a lot of need of such a good person to unify and heal.

Young people all over the world miss his honesty, sensitivity but most of all his humbleness. I will be visiting Rome very soon to pay my respect to this hero of mine, I know that I will have to walk a long way, so I will be taking my Acceletrim diet supplement to get some extra energy to climb all those steps in Vatican City. I cannot way to finally say good bye to him and pay my respects.
